On the south side of Chicago, in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood along 87th Street, lies an inspiring story of legacy and entrepreneurship. In the 1960s, one sister, Peggy, established a beloved beauty salon, which was later entrusted to her younger sister, Ruby. Since its inception, the property has served as a cherished business in the community, first as Peggy’s Beauty Salon and later as Ruby’s Beauty Salon. For more than fifty years, this establishment has been far more than a place for hair care—it has stood as a Black & Woman-owned business in the community, fostering meaningful connections and empowering every client with confidence and care.

Peggy and Ruby’s dedication transformed the space into a beacon of style and grace, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives, including that of their great-niece, Tiana.  As a child, Tiana would sit in Ruby’s salon chair, watching her work her magic, learning not just about hair but about the strength and perseverance required to build a successful business. When Tiana, now a vibrant and driven entrepreneur, learned that her aunt was selling the property, she saw it as a sign—a calling to continue the family legacy and elevate it to new heights.

Thus, Lineage Salon Suites was born. Tiana envisioned a dynamic, multi-faceted space where beauty professionals could thrive. The project transforms the historic salon into a modern haven with individual suites for independent beauty business owners. This approach not only preserves the family legacy but also cultivates an environment of growth and entrepreneurship.

“We believe it’s crucial to foster this type of business on the south side of Chicago,” Tiana explains. “It’s about promoting generational wealth and empowering Our communities to create and sustain their legacies.”
